Everything we text, when, and how to stop. Last updated 20 August 2026.
Spread the Love lets someone send a small, real gift to a friend — a coffee, a scoop of gelato, a pastry — which the person receiving it redeems in person at an independent local shop. The gift is free to the recipient and paid for by the shop, which would rather buy someone a coffee than buy an advert. The service is operated by Fonseca Enterprises LLC, 156 Jericho Turnpike, Mineola, NY 11501, United States.
Spread the Love Gift Updates. A transactional programme that tells you what happened to a gift you sent. There is no marketing programme and no promotional texting of any kind.
We text the person who sent a gift, on a mobile number they typed in themselves and ticked a box to confirm.
We do not text the person receiving a gift. A sender can enter a friend's number so we can deliver the gift link, but that friend never receives messages from this programme, because they did not consent themselves. We do not buy, rent, or import phone numbers from anywhere.
Three kinds, all about your own gift:
1. Your gift was delivered.
2. Your gift was opened, or redeemed at the counter.
3. One reminder before it expires, if it has not been claimed.
Example: “Spread the Love: your gift for Maria was picked up at Rise Coffee. Reply STOP to opt out.”
You can sign up directly at spreadthelove.app/sms/opt-in. The checkbox and the number field are on that page with nothing in front of them, and the same page lets you stop texts to a number.
The other way is inside the gift form itself. There are no other paths: no text-to-join keyword, no short code sign-up, no printed form, and no verbal opt-in.
1. Go to spreadthelove.app/send and choose a shop and a treat.
2. Write your note and say who it is for.
3. On the final step there is a checkbox, unticked by default, reading exactly:
I agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Spread the Love about the gifts I send, at the number provided. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.
4. Only after you tick that box does a mobile number field appear. You enter your own number.
Ticking the box is optional and is never required to send a gift, to receive one, or to use any part of the service. Nothing is bundled with it and no box is pre-ticked.
Message frequency varies, typically one to three messages per gift you send. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message to stop them immediately. Reply HELP for help, or email hello@spreadthelove.app or call +1 516 299 8099.
Carriers may not be able to deliver every message, and delivery is not guaranteed.
The number in E.164 format, the exact consent wording you were shown, the page URL, the timestamp, the IP address and the browser user agent. That record is append-only, and consent is re-checked against it immediately before every message is sent, so a later STOP always beats an earlier opt-in.
